United Way Maritimes is proud to partner with Bird Canada for More Equitable Micromobility, part of HRM’s shared Micromobility pilot project.

Flex-Fare Zones

Rides in Flex-Fare Zones receive an automatic 50% discount. Visit halifax.ca/sharedmicromobility to see service area map including Flex-Fare Zones. The map will be updated regularly as the service area expands and new Flex-Fare Zones are added. New Flex-Fare Zones will be added over time as the pilot expands in phases throughout HRM.

Any ride that starts within a Flex-Fare Zone receives an automatic 50% discount—even if you travel outside of the zone during your ride!

Community Pricing Program

The Community Pricing Program offers enrolled users a 50% discount on up to four rides per day, valid throughout the entire service area—even beyond the Flex-Fare Zones. The Community Pricing program is available to low-income users, seniors, veterans, employees of nonprofit & community-based organizations, newcomers and more!

Enrolment Process:

Contact United Way to request enrolment or receive a referral letter with instructions to enrol directly with Bird, if you prefer.
Download the Bird mobile app and register for an account for Apple or Android
Once your enrollment is complete, Bird Canada will send you a confirmation email with additional details about the program.

When Philip woke up on the afternoon of May 28, 2023, he thought he’d take advantage of an unseasonably warm and sunny day. He and his partner Sue both work back shift, and typically rest up on Sunday. But Philip noticed it was darker than expected, and when he went outside, he saw some small fires on one part of the property. He tried to put those fires out, and then noticed his neighbour’s house was on fire. He rushed back inside.
